Pork industry donates one million meals

Hog farmers and the pork industry have donated one million meals worth of pork to the Ontario Association of Food Banks.

“We are incredibly grateful for the longstanding commitment of Ontario’s hog industry,” said Carolyn Stewart, the OAFB’s executive director.

The Ontario Pork marketing board organizes donations that have now topped $150,000.

With matching funds from Food Banks Canada and The French’s Food Company to purchase Ontario pork, the OAFB and Ontario Pork have distributed fresh pork to 128 food banks this year.

“Ontario’s pork farmers are committed to building strong, healthy communities,” said Eric Schwindt, Ontario Pork board chair, in the release.
