Feds give $6.3 million to juice company

The federal agriculture department is giving Greenhouse Juice Co. of Mississauga $6.3 million.

It’s what the feds call a “repayable investment” to develop a cold pasteurization system for its organic fruit and vegetable juices.

The company squeezes fruits and vegetables with a hydraulic press to harvest juices, an approach called “cold pressing”.

This technology was supposed to lead to high-value canola from a new plant in Manitoba, but investor Helmut Sieber’s empire. based in Kincardine, fell into bankruptcy before it could open.
