China lifts ban on Brazilian meat

China, South Korea and Chile have lifted their bans on Brazilian meat.

They imposed the bans last week after federal police in Brazil charged 21 meat-packing plants with bribing inspectors to approve products that did not meet government standards.

Some of the cheating involved changing packaging dates. Another problem was cardboard added as filler.

Canada has suspended two plants from marketing meat in Canada.

Brazil is the world’s largest meat exporter and China is its biggest customer.
