European Parliament approves trade deal

The European Parliament voted approval today for the free trade deal with Canada.

And in Canada, similar political approval has passed the House of Commons and is now in the Senate.

There are some details that will also require provincial approvals.

It is the most comprehensive trade deal ever negotiated by Canadians and will eliminate almost all tariffs on trade between members of the European Union and Canada.

But there will be quantity limits on some things, such as European dairy products and wines coming to Canada and Canadian beef and pork being sold to Europeans.
