Premium Brands on a tear

Premium Brands Holding Corporation is on a tear, increasing sales by 22.5 per cent for the third quarter and posting a record profit of $21.2 million.

It bought Fletcher’s Fine Foods recently for $5 million and, after the third quarter ended, paid $50 million for Belmont Meats in Toronto.

It is building a large sandwich-making plant in Phoenix, Arizona, and a distribution and custom processing plant of 105,000 square feet in Toronto.

It’s leading investment in Ontario is Piller’s Meats and Delicatessens Ltd. of Waterloo.

The company’s headquarters are in British Columbia.
