Fire destroyed a dairy barn near Drayton, claiming 71 of the
72 cows on the Melvin Martin farm.
It’s believed that sparks ignited the fire while Martin’s
daughter was chopping straw for bedding. She owns the farm.
The fire took the barn, the milk house and feed storage. The
loss is estimated at $200,000.
