New Michigan hog plant to help Ontario

A new hog slaughtering plant being built in Northern Michigan will help Ontario farmers when it opens next year, says company spokesman Don Groff.

Surprise! Surprise! I wrote that on this blog months ago.

The Clemons Food Group plant will have capacity to slaughter up to 10,000 hogs a day.

Ontario is short of slaughter capacity since Quality Meat Packers, which operated a large plant in downtown Toronto and a smaller one at Mitchell, went into receivership last year.
