Alma man fined for illegal meat processing

Ronald Weiland of Alma has been fined $1,500 after pleading guilty to conducting meat processing, including smoking meat, without a provincial licence.

With the victim surcharge added, Weiland faces a bill of $1,875.

Inspectors laid charges in mid-October when they found some processed meat in a cooler and two stainless-steel smokehouses, other equipment and ingredients.
