Bird flu now in Wisconsin

Wisconsin has been hit with an outbreak of avian influenza.

A 200,000-bird flock of chickens will be sacrificed to contain the disease.

Minnesota reports another case, bringing that state’s losses to 900,000 birds, and two turkey flocks in South Dakota have been hit, wiping out 100,000 birds.

So far there have been 23 outbreaks in six states taking out 1.2 million birds in the United States.

Ontario has one case, a turkey farm near Woodstock, and British Columbia lost 11 farms around Christmas time.
