Pilgrim's Pride says it has not laid off any workers at its chicken-processing plant at Sumter, South Carolina.
That contradicts the local sheriff who blamed a lay-off of 60 workers for leading to vandalism that killed about 325,000 chickens on six farms and in 15 barns. (see story below).
