Farming found good for war vets

Farming can have a positive impact on the lives of veterans around the world, says Danielle Nierenberg of the Food Think Tank, an internet service.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), gardens offer many benefits for both physical and mental health, she says.

Not only do they provide healthy food, but they also help people to engage in physical activity, build marketable skills, improve social well-being, and decrease violence in neighbourhoods.

She says there are 21 organizations around the world that promote farming as a way to heal veterans.

Maybe another benefit is helping them to cope with the stress of too little income.
