Europeans have vaccine for necrotic enteritis

Good news for chicken farmers: European researchers have developed a vaccine for necrotic enteritis.

Europeans were keenly interested in finding a way to control the condition ever since antibiotics were banned as growth promotants for chickens.

The research was a joint effort of the University of Exeter, England, Ghent University in Belgium and Birkbeck College at the University of London.

They identified a non-toxic form of NetB that can be used to develop immunities.

NetB is a toxin that is produced by bacteria, and NetB is what causes the damage to birds’ intestines.
