CFIA issues pea alert

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued an alert to people who bought fresh peas from Thomas Bros. Farm Market in London on June 27.

Why the alert was issued is somewhat mysterious since the agency says “there have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product” and the alert was issued 10 days late – at 2:39 a.m. on Saturday, July 7.

The CFIA says the peas might be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Probably the only practical result from this alert is damage to the reputation of Thomas Bros. Farm Market.
